Getting dressed in the 18th century – His

Greetings! The first thing to understand is the different clothing styles and terms and what order in which to put the items on. I remember a new Soldier saying how hard it was to get dressed one morning in his tent. Of course no one had told him what to start with… “everyone would have known that growing up!” I heard. Well I didn’t know and here’s the class I got verbally, done on this modern Internet.

Proposed order of “dressing”

Bodyshirt
Stockings & Garters
Overalls
Shoes
Weskit
Neckstock
Regimental coat
Cocked Hat
Eyeglasses (if applicable)

Anyone with comments, criticisms, or advice, I would be pleased if you would send it to me at: QM1stVA@aol.com.
